Baseball: Chester County bounced from Carpenter Cup

Tri-County 5, Chester County 1 - It was one-and-done Friday in the Phillies Baseball Carpenter Cup for Chester County, which featured a large contingent of Pioneer Athletic Conference players.

Chesco suffered a tournament ending 5-1 loss to 2021 champion Tri-Cape Friday at UYA Showcase Field in Philadelphia’s FDR Park. Tri-Cape put the game away with three runs in the eighth inning.

The locals were unable to produce much offense, scoring its only run in the top of the ninth when Ben Bolhouse drove home Upper Perkiomen junior Devlin Kranich.

Kranich, Phoenixville junior catcher Dylan Antonini and Pope John Paul II junior Nick Freese all contributed singles to Chester County’s meager seven-hit attack against four Tri-Cape hurlers.

Upper Perk southpaw Evan Wittig pitched a scoreless inning for the locals while Methacton’s Tyler Lohsen and PJP’s Blake High also saw mound action in relief.

Other PAC players participating were Zach Brockner (Owen J. Roberts, first base), Yasir Gardner-Sizer (Pottsgrove, center field), Brandon Kenning (PJP, first base), Bobby Kleckner (Methacton, right field), Gage Swanger (Spring-Ford, center field) and Bobby Zielinski (Upper Merion, shortstop). Gardner-Sizer reached base after being hit by a pitch from Tri-Cape starter Justin Sweeney.
