Boys soccer: Perkiomen Valley tops Pottsgrove in PAC showdown; Spring-Ford, Boyertown earn wins - updated

Perkiomen Valley 3, Pottsgrove 0 – Michael Renner collected three saves for the clean sheet and the Vikings used a balanced scoring attack and shutdown defensive effort to register the victory Saturday morning in a showdown for first place in the PAC.
Alex Chamorro nailed a left-footed strike from outside the 18 in the 34th minute to give Perk Valley a 1-0 lead at the break. Adding insurance goals in the second half were Brayden Basile on a breakaway and Javier Schorle on a header off an Owen Slack cross. Steven Warren and Alex Tucholke added assists for the Vikings (5-2-1), who moved past the Grove (5-3-1) and into the top spot.

Spring-Ford 3, Owen J. Roberts 2 – Andrew Merchant posted a hat trick and freshman keeper Logan Hyduke recorded his first varsity win with 7 saves as the Rams climbed back above .500 at 4-3-1.
Merchant connected on a penalty kick in the first half before scoring twice after the break, one off an Akshay Patel assist and the other on a direct kick from 25 yards out.
For the Wildcats, Joey Kish opened the scoring off a PJ DePorry assist in the 10th minute and Pierce Marks cut the deficit to 3-2 when he found the back of the net off a Julian Funaro assist with 22:27 left. But OJR would get no closer.

Boyertown 1, Upper Perkiomen 0 – Dimitrije Randjelovic scored on a near-side header off a corner kick and Tanner McCafferty recorded his second straight clean sheet with two saves to propel the Bears (5-4).
Nick Willson picked up the assist on Randjelovic’s strike and the rest of the credits went to the Boyertown defense, headed up by the strong work of Jack Albright, Justin Patten, Matt Selders, Luke Moser and Lucas Carneiro.
Matt Wanamaker was solid in goal for the Indians with 8 saves.
