Boys soccer wrap: Owen J. Roberts drops season opener in overtime

MALVERN – Luis Palermo foiled a stirring Owen J. Roberts comeback by scoring in overtime to lead Great Valley to a 4-3 victory in the nonleague boys soccer opener for the Wildcats Saturday.

Dan Brady, Paolo Chavarria and Noah Greenblatt chipped in with goals for OJR, which overcame a 3-1 halftime deficit on strikes by Chavarria and Greenblatt.


Hatboro-Horsham 3, Boyertown 1 – The Bears slipped to 1-1 in a pair of nonleague starts despite a goal from Chad Craig and an assist from Aaron Kulig.


Radnor 1, Perkiomen Valley 0 (OT) – Taylor Zeitz stopped seven shots in net but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings fell in the consolation round of the West Chester Henderson Tournament.

PV (0-2), which had an 8-1 advantage in corners, was unable to convert at the offensive end despite many opportunities.


Souderton 2, Methacton 0 – The Warriors dropped their nonleague season opener, allowing goals in each half to fall to the host Indians.
