Field hockey wrap: Major's hat trick gives Moore first career victory at Spring-Ford


EXTON – The Jennie Moore field hockey era at Spring-Ford began in impressive fashion Saturday.

Gabby Major collected a hat trick while Allysa Chillano chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Rams to a 6-2 victory over nonleague opponent Downingtown East to give the first-year coach her first victory.

Also contributing for Spring-Ford with a goal and assist was Brandy Nice. Goalie Katie Simpson collected 10 saves on 12 shots to help get the Rams off on the right foot.


Phoenixville 3, Great Valley 0 – Junior midfielder Rachel Boone scored twice and sophomore keeper Sarah Boone, Rachel’s sister, had seven saves for the shutout.

Also scoring a goal was Megan Loughery (goal), with Phantoms assists coming from Bailey Quinn, Jessica Tague and Ali Meszaros.
