Field hockey wrap: Perk Valley falls to Christopher Dock


TOWAMENCIN – Perkiomen Valley thoroughly dominated play, but had no answer for Christopher Dock goalie Monica Roth in a 2-1 nonleague field hockey loss Wednesday.

Roth finished with 12 saves to turn away the Vikings (1-1), who outshot Dock 16-4 and owned a 10-5 advantage in corners.

Chandler Geise scored from just inside the circle off a free hit for PV’s lone goal. Hannah Bergey and Mattyasyn Shisler found the back of the cage for the winners, who built a 2-0 lead and withstood a late charge from the Vikings.


Phoenixville 4, Pope John Paul II 2 – Megan Loughery delivered a hat trick as the Phantoms improved to 2-0 with a victory in their PAC-10 season opener.

Shannan McErlean also scored for Phoenixville, which got a pair of assists from Chandler DiFebbo. PJP got a goal from Shannon Mooney in the loss.


Upper Perkiomen 8, Pottsgrove 0 – The Indians rolled to the shutout victory behind Casey Umstead’s four goals. Emily Rodenberger and Carrie Nyce chipped in with two goals apiece for the winners.
