Girls hoops: Breisblatt, Green power Phoenixville; Pottsgrove rolls behind Mowery, Simon

Phoenixville 69, Pottstown 59 – Aubrie Breisblatt lit up the gym for 24 points and Nailah Green added 15 as the Phantoms moved back into the PAC Frontier Division lead with the wire-to-wire victory Saturday afternoon.
Coming off an overtime loss to Pope John Paul II Thursday that forged a deadlock atop the division, Phoenixville (7-1 Frontier, 8-4 overall) regained the Frontier top spot by one-half game over the idle Golden Panthers (6-1, 8-2) behind a strong start that produced an insurmountable 42-21 halftime lead.
For the Trojans, who used a 24-11 spurt in the fourth quarter to narrow the final margin to 10, Trinell Watson had a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Other key contributors for Pottstown were Calista Daye (13 points, 7 steals, 6 rebounds), freshman reserve Mikyla Brandon.(9 points) and junior reserve Jo’layla Lamarre (6 points).

Pottsgrove 47, Upper Merion 19 – Sydney Mowery hit for 16 points and Riley Simon added 13 as the Falcons rode a shutdown defensive effort and balanced scoring attack to the lopsided PAC Frontier triumph.
For the winless Vikings, who were held without a point in the opening quarter and managed just 8 in the entire second half, Melissa McCabe led the way with 8 points.
