Girls scoccer wrap: Garber's penalty kick lifts Boyertown past CB West


DOYLESTOWN – Hollie Garber connected on a penalty kick in the 69thminute of regulation to lead Boyertown to a 2-1 nonleague girls soccer victory over Central Bucks West Saturday.

Jenna Dubs had given the Bears an early 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the contest with a corner kick, but the Bucks struck early in the second half to knot the contest at 1-1 and set the stage for Garber’s heroics.


West Chester East 2, Spring-Ford 1 – Kate McKinley scored in the second half on an assist from Megan Giannoupolis but it wasn’t enough as the Rams suffered a nonleague setback. Both Vikings goals were scored by Hannah Specht.


Souderton 2, Methacton 1 – The Warriors dropped their nonleague season opener despite a goal from Amanda Broderick. Souderton got first-half strikes from Taylor Schwartz and Grace Miorelli, who also chipped in with an assist.
