Girls soccer wrap: Diehl sisters help Boyertown top Owen J. Roberts in early showdown

BOYERTOWN – Sister Act was playing to rave reviews Friday night in Boyertown, with siblings Emily Diehl and Megan Diehl racking up goals in the Bears’ 2-0 Pioneer Athletic Conference girls soccer conquest of defending champion Owen J. Roberts.

Hollie Garber and Audrey Randall collected assists for the Bears, who improved to 3-0 in the PAC-10 and 4-0 overall in a matchup between the 2010 finalists in the league championship clash. Boyertown keeper Megan Janderchick kept OJR off the board with three saves.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 2-1 overall and in the league.

Pottsgrove 2, Upper Perkiomen 1 – The Falcons evened their PAC-10 slate at 1-1 behind second-half goals from Tori Coyle and Hannah Steffenino and a nine-save outing from keeper Allie Neel.

Julie Lavin had the lone goal for Upper Perk (2-2, 2-4-1), which got seven saves in net from Maggie Ortlip. Pottsgrove is now 2-1 on the season overall.

Conwell-Egan 5, Pope John Paul II 3 – Caroline McLaughlin’s two goals weren’t enough as the Golden Panthers slipped below .500 at 2-3 overall with the nonleague setback. Also finding the net for PJP (2-2 league) was Lauren Dao.
