Girls tennis: PAC teams fall short at District 1 Doubles tournament

SPRINGFIELD - Spring-Ford’s doubles team of Riley Burke and Isabel Mejia, the PAC champions, and Methacton’s Hanna Kim and Katie Chan both advanced to the second round of the District 1 Class AAA Tournament at the Legacy Center Friday before getting eliminated.
 
Burke and Mejia opened with a a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 victory over Olivia Zoretic and Nancy McSwain of West Chester Henderson before falling in straight sets to the No. 1 seeds, Kanon Ciarrocchi and Ludy Hederick of Radnor 6-1, 6-1 in the second round.
 
Kim and Chan ousted Penn Wood’s Sallay Thollie and Taylor Davis 6-1, 6-0 but were eliminated in the second round by the No. 2 seeds, Leena Kwak and Olivia Dodge of Conestoga 6-0, 6-0.
 
Other PAC entries competing in the event but falling in the opening round were Nadja Townsend and Kay Mahon of Perkiomen Valley (6-0, 6-1 losers to (7) Tanya Pant and Sophia Koons of Downingtown West), and Karen Li and Amanda Wang of Methacton, 6-3, 6-2 losers to Eileen Xiao and Eva Hunter of Upper Dublin.
