Girls volleyball: Pope John Paul II, Boyertown, Upper Merion sweep - updated

Pope John Paul II 3, Phoenixville 0 – Sarah Ward (11 kills, 3 aces), Julia Durand (7 aces, 4 kills), Haley Spotts (7 kills), Caroline Regan (5 kills), Erin Dychdala (15 assists), Lexi McMonagle (13 assists) and Tea Pasquale (6 digs) topped the stat charts as the Golden Panthers breezed to the PAC victory in straight sets Thursday, 25-5, 25-8 and 25-6.
For the Phantoms, Alexa Grammerstorf (2 kills, 6 digs), Avery Stackhouse (1 kills, 4 digs), Sophia Spoto (9 assists), Hayden Perrone (5 kills, 4 digs) and LeiLu Campbell (5 digs) had strong performances.
 
Boyertown 3, Norristown 0 – The Bears ran the table in the PAC match 25-16, 25-11 and 25-12 behind the stellar play of Julia Smith (10 digs, 3 assists), Grace Reinheimer (9 assists), Emily Wolfe (8 kills, 4 aces, 3 digs), Emma Ludwig (13 assists, 7 kills, 4 digs) and Adrianna Derstine (8 kills, 7 digs).
 
Upper Merion 3, Spring-Ford 0 – The Vikings extended their winning streak to three with their third straight shutout victory on the heels of a 3-0 blanking of Pottsgrove Wednesday led by Gretchen Bahmueller (10 kills, 5 aces) and Annamarie Marsh (11 service points, 14 digs, 28 assists). Also for UM in the 25-5, 25-17, 25-8 demolition of the Grove, Jill Demcher, Vanessa Hutchinson and Sophie Gammarino each contributed 14 digs.
 

Methacton 3, Harriton 0 – The Warriors registered the nonleague sweep 25-18, 25-23 and 25-17 behind Melinda Eglinton (9 kills, 3 aces, 1 assist, 7 digs, 1 block), Sydney Zerbe (10 kills, 4 aces, 3 digs, 1 block), Alli Hazlett (8 kills), Meghan Haftl (29 assists, 1 ace, 4 digs), Elly Brunt (10 digs, 2 aces, 1 assist) and Claire Claudy (5 kills, 2 aces, 1 dig).
