Girls volleyball: Pope John Paul II rolls on 'Panthers vs. Cancer' night; Upper Merion, Norristown prevail - updated

Pope John Paul II 3, Gwynedd Mercy Academy 0 – The Golden Panthers rebounded quickly from their first loss of the season by taking the nonleague match in straight sets – 25-11, 25-14, 25-11 – on 'Panthers versus Cancer Dig Pink night' at PJP Tuesday. 
Sarah Ward (5 kills), Haley Spotts (7 kills), Hanna Tulli (8 kills), Julia Durand (5 kills), Chelsea Harvey (25 assists) and Tea Pasquale (12 digs) topped the stat charts for the Panthers, the top-ranked team in District 1-3A.

Upper Merion 3, Owen J. Roberts 0 – The Vikings ran the table 25-7, 25-13, 25-8 despite outstanding efforts from Bridget Kowalski (14 digs), Jordyn Chambers (1 ace, 1 kill, 9 assists, 6 digs), Caroline Halsey (3 kills, 1 block), Hannah Lewiski (4 kills, 3 digs), Jessica Taney (2 kills, 3 blocks) and Madison Harvey (6 digs) for the Wildcats.

Norristown 3, Phoenixville 1 – The Eagles celebrated Senior Night with the PAC triumph, rebounding from a 26-24 loss in the first set to run the table 25-19, 29-27 and 25-19. For the Phantoms, Alexa Grammerstorf (1 ace, 11 kills, 7 digs), Avery Stackhouse (2 aces, 3 kills, 5 digs), Sophia Spoto (1 ace, 34 assists, 1 kill), Hayden Perrone (1 ace, 6 kills, 4 digs), Maria Coll (3 aces, 9 digs) and LeiLu Campbell (11 digs) set the tone
