Indoor track wrap: Jen Yeakle and Joe O’Such golden for Spring-Ford

KUTZTOWN – Jen  Yeakle and Joe O’Such earned gold medals during a strong performance by Spring-Ford over the weekend at the Kutztown Indoor Track and Field Invitational.

Yeakle won the shot put with a 33-5 ½ toss while O’Such broke the tape first in the 400 with a 55.43 clocking. O’Such also anchored the Rams first-place 4x800 relay team that included Damian Boham, Mike Hickman and Matt Olsen.

For the Rams girls, Amber Muhammad (200, 27.88), Mikaila White (55 hurdles, 9.1)) and the 4x400 relay team (4:17.91) of Muhammad, Brandy Nice, Kirsten Long and White all placed third. Spring-Ford’s 4x400 boys relay team of Yousef Lundy, David O’Such, Jesse Magolon and Xavier Ingram finished third with a time of 3:43.35.

Owen J. Roberts also competed in the event, with the Wildcats 4x800 relay team of Zach Jennion, Kiran Pande, Torin McFarland and Ryan Conway finishing third in 8:50.50.

TFCAGP - Boyertown distance ace Brett Kelly clocked a 4:31.77 to capture first place in the mile at the recent Track and Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia meet at Haverford College.

 

The Methacton boys, led by Kevin Dargan (third, high jump with Meet of Champions qualifying leap of 5-10), freshman Pat Hopkins (fourth, 3,000, 10:00.49) and senior Zach Musselman (fifth, mile, 4:41.78),  also fared well at the meet.

The Bears also got a third from Greg Mellor (800, 2:04.84), a fourth from the distance medley relay team (11:17.35) of Brendan Quay, Tom Renninger, Colin Ranieri and David Schumaker, and a fifth from the 4x400 relay team (3:45.46) of Brook David, Ricky Asplen, Tyler Sellers and Nick Miller.
