The week that was: Petrucelli blew through the 145-pound bracket en route to the gold medal at the highly-competitive, 27-team Buckskin Classic at Conestoga Valley High over the weekend.

Petrucelli culminated his perfect 4-0 run through the tournament by posting a 16-6 major decision over Caesar Fountain (Father Judge) in the championship bout, joining OJR teammate Daniel Mancini (152) atop the medal stand at Conestoga Valley.

Antonio dominated his earlier matches, pinning Brendon Stocku (Penncrest) at 1:59 in the semifinals after dispatching of Austin Rider (Conestoga Valley) by tech. fall, 3:51 (27-12) in the quarterfinals and Drew Balestrini (Shikellamy) by tech fall, 4:27 (20-5) in his opening match.

Petrucelli has been wrestling at the varsity level since his freshman year, compiling a 14-2 record (6 tech. falls, 5 pins) this season through Dec. 31 and a 79-31 career record with 40 pins and 10 tech. falls.

Petrucelli is coming off a season that saw him qualify for states (Class 3A) after second-place finishes at the regional and district tournament. Petrucelli was also last year’s PAC champion at 138.

OJR coach Steve DeRafelo: “Antonio was aggressive and relentless the entire tournament.  He was down in the semis and the finals, but his aggressiveness allowed him to take over the matches.  He had heavy hands and was tough on top which really wore down his opponents.  He made a statement in the finals dominating a state ranked kid.”
