The week that was: Van Horn reached the top of the podium after posting a 9-0 major decision over Boyertown’s Anthony Bauer in the 220-pound final at the PAC individual championships Saturday at Pottsgrove.

It was the first PAC gold medal for Van Horn, a steady senior who reached the championship round by turning Perkiomen Valley’s Eli Johnston in 3:51, improving to 17-3 on the season with 11 pins and one major. Coming off a junior season in which he qualified but didn’t place in regionals, Van Horn is now 72-38 for his career.

“When the season started I saw this on the schedule,” Van Horn said on papreplive.com. “My quest was to get to the top of the podium. I had dreamed of winning a PAC title. The next part (for myself and our team) is to repeat as Frontier Division champions.”

Pottsgrove, which placed fifth in the team standings Saturday, is well on its way to accomplishing that goal, currently standing atop the Frontier Division standings with a perfect 3-0 slate.

The Falcons have already flexed their considerable muscles by running the table in five matches to earn the team title at Upper Merion’s Valley Forge Duals back on Dec. 21.
