Late collapse proves costly for Pope John Paul II girls

(3-1) Palmyra 46, (1-6) Pope John Paul II 38 – The Golden Panthers were unable to hold a seven-point lead late in the third quarter in suffering the season-ending loss in the opening round of the PIAA Class 5A playoffs Saturday at Milton Hershey High.  
PJP, which finishes at 16-13, was unable to stop the bleeding after allowing 16 unanswered points by Palmyra spanning the third and fourth quarters.
Kallen Bustynowicz finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the Golden Panthers, who got 7 points from Elise Sylvester and 6 each from Tess Crossan and Amelia Kennedy (10 rebounds).
Amelia Baldo (14 points) and Olivia Richardson (12) hit double figures for the Cougars (17-10).
