Mat roundup: Spring-Ford runs table at Rock Yard Duals behind Needles, Smith, Milano

 
Rock Yard Duals
Spring-Ford capped a perfect 4-0 performance at the 8-school dual meet with a 36-28 victory over host Council Rock North in the championship match Saturday.
Zach Needles' pin at 138 in the final bout sealed the deal for the Rams, who also got falls from Gavin Hartman (182), Joey Milano (195), Cole Smith (106) and Quinn Smith (126) in the gold-medal clincher.
Spring-Ford advanced to the championship match with victories over Ridley (64-9), Neshaminy (35-28) and Downingtown West (48-19).
Finishing a perfect 4-0 on the day for the Rams were Needles (3 pins, technical fall), Milano (16-0 on season), and freshman Cole Smith (2 pins, 2 majors). Also for Spring-Ford, Jack McGill (152) and Quinn Tobin (132) were both 3-1 with three falls each while Dominic Ortlip (113) also finished 3-1.
Despite suffering its first dual loss of the season – 36-31 to Council Rock North – Owen J. Roberts placed third at the Rock Yard Duals after topping Neshaminy 41-27 in the bronze-medal clash.
The Wildcats, who got perfect 4-0 efforts from Tommmy Dempsey (182/195, 2 pins, tech fall), Matt Englehardt (120/126, 2 pins, major), Mason Karkoska (113, pin, tech fall) and Antonio Petrucelli (145/152, 2 pins), also topped Central Bucks South 66-13 and PAC foe Methacton 72-6 at the event.
Also for OJR, Dylan Bauer (195/220, 3 falls), Austin Boaman (170/182, 3 falls), David Forrest (126/132, 3 falls), and Connor Leister (138/145, pin, major) all went 3-1.
In addition to the loss to OJR, Methacton also fell to Council Rock North 62-15 and CB South 48-30. Senior stalwart Kibwe McNair suffered his first loss of the season against 14 wins, dropping a 7-2 decision to OJR’s Petrucelli at 145.

Finishing 4-1 for the Bears were Alan Alexander (170, pin, major) and Preston Fox (195, 2 pins) while Noah Fisher went 3-2 with a pin at 152.
 
Octorara Duals
Jacob Sturm (182/195, 2 pins) and PJ Kakos (132/138, 2 pins, major) were both unbeaten at 4-0 in reported matches for Perkiomen Valley, which went 2-2 with wins over Archbishop Ryan (40-38) and host Octorara (43-33) and losses to New Oxford (37-33) and Exeter (53-22). Going 3-1 for the Vikings were Jakob Sterling (195/220, 3 falls) and Kelly Kakos (126, 2 majors, pin).
Demond Thompson was 4-0 with three falls at 138/132 to key Pottstown’s 2-3 slate at Octorara, with wins over Unionville (45-33) and Hatboro-Horsham (42-41) and losses to Archbishop Ryan (52-24), Exeter (67-9) and team champion West Chester Henderson (73-3). Also for the Trojans, freshman Jared Hewitt went 3-2 with two pins at 145.
 
Hamburg Duals
Upper Perkiomen topped Allentown Central Catholic 40-19 behind Austin DiDomenico’s pin at 220, Tommy Flud’s major at 170 and four wins by forfeit for its lone win against three setbacks at Hamburg. The Indians’ losses were to Dallastown (45-27), Faith Christian Academy (50-20) and Tamaqua (43-36).
