Owen J. Roberts seniors Kira Alderman, Justin Bailey, Liam Conway, Alexa Rae Luecke, Autumn Sands, Morgan Shronk, Dawson Stuart and Jason Zollers announced recently that they will continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level.

Why did you choose this school? “I chose Sarah Lawrence because of the elite academics, their 3-2 engineering program with Columbia University and because their men’s basketball coaches and team were extremely welcoming, supportive and had a great attitude.”

Goals/expectations for college career? “I wanted to be on a supportive team that had the same mindset as me. I also want to be an impact player and help my team get to the NCAA D3 tournament and increase their wins, along with being a team player."

Reflections on high school career: “The OJR boys basketball varsity team had a great season (14-10), getting to the league and district playoffs.”

Why did you choose this school? “I chose Stanford because I wanted to challenge myself and become a part of an incredibly hardworking and successful team.”

Goals/expectations for college career? “I am looking forward to working hard and seeing huge improvements in both my athletics and academics. I want to become the best runner and student that I can possibly be.”

Reflections on high school career: “I am so grateful to have been coached by such supportive and dedicated coaches (Coach Tim Marcoe and Coach David Michael), and to have been able to run with such awesome teammates.”

Why did you choose this school? “I focused my college search on the Centennial Conference based on their strong academic reputation and the quality of their Women’s swim programs. I chose Washington because of its ideal location on the Eastern Shore and the unique opportunities that are offered within their Environment Science curriculum. The coaches and team were engaged and genuine throughout the process, which made it feel like home.”

Goals/expectations for college career? “To grow as a person and a student athlete.”

Autumn Sands – Track/Cross Country - Lafayette

Why did you choose this school? “Lafayette’s academic opportunities fit my needs and I had a good rapport with the coach.”

Goals/expectations for college career? “Continue to improve both academically and athletically and be a better mental runner and push my teammates to their best.”

Reflections on high school career: “I wish I would have started XC and track my freshman year. I would have had more time to improve and help my team succeed.”
