Perkiomen Valley, Owen J. Roberts set up district title showdown; Phoenixville ousted

(2) Perkiomen Valley 3, (14) Methacton 2 – The Vikings (22-1)  advanced to the District 1-3A championship game with the narrow triumph over their PAC rivals Tuesday at the Training Center in Parkerford.
Gabby Martini assisted on Kelly Baitinger’s game-tying goal with 3:40 left before snapping the 2-2 deadlock with a strike of her own at the 2:44 mark to send the Vikings to a rematch of the PAC championship game with Owen J. Roberts Saturday (5:30 pm) in the district final at Methacton.
The fourth-seeded Wildcats, who advanced with a 2-0 semifinal win over top-seeded Central Bucks East Tuesday, handed Perk Valley its lone loss of the season with a 3-0 decision in the PAC title clash.
After Saige Shine scored off a Baitinger assist with 4:03 left in the first quarter to give PV a 1-0 lead at the break, the Warriors (14-8) stormed back to take a 2-1 advantage on goals by Katy Benton and Liz Chipman.
But Martini and her teammates made all the plays at crunch time to give Perk Valley a shot at redemption against OJR. Methacton will face (1) CB East on the road Friday (3:30 pm) for third place in the district.
