Fresh on the heels of a landmark 26-2 season that produced the first PIAA Class 4A championship in program history, Boyertown veteran girls’ soccer coach Bill Goddard has been named the 2019 PIAA Class 4A Girls Coach of the Year by the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association.

Coach Goddard has been the head coach for the Boyertown girls since the program’s inception in 2001, compiling a lofty 257-106-21 overall record with five Pioneer Athletic Conference championships and the recent state title – a 1-0 double overtime victory over Conestoga Nov. 15 in Hershey.

Goddard, who also led the Bears to the PAC crown this season, will be honored Jan. 25 with the W. Gene Davis Memorial Award when the PSCA holds its annual banquet on Jan. 25 in Harrisburg.

In another postseason award, Boyertown junior midfielder Camilla Kuever - a foreign exchanges student who was a member of Germany’s Under-16 national team - has been named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Fall Girls High School All-East team. Kuever, who was earlier named to the Pa. Soccer Coaches Association’s All-State team, finished with 22 goals and 12 assists and was recently named the area’s top player by the Mercury.

Elsewhere, Spring-Ford senior Colin Trainor was chosen to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region team following his second straight All-State selection by the Pa. Soccer Coaches Association. Other All-State players this season by the PSCA included Pottsgorve’s Skylar Glass (17 goals, 6 assists for District 1-3A semifinalists) and Collin Deckert (13 goals, 12 assists).
