Souderton ousts Owen J. Roberts; Gensler, Spring-Ford continue mastery of Perkiomen Valley

(10) Souderton 11, (23) Owen J. Roberts 10 – Logan Clefisch and Christian Brofft posted hat tricks but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats suffered the season-ending loss in the opening round of the District 1-3A playoffs Tuesday.
The victory was the first district triumph in program history for Big Red, which got five goals from Cole Witoslawski, five assists from Matt Rauch and 15/25 faceoff efficiency from Luke Wawrzynek. Up next for Souderton in the second round Thursday (7 pm) is a road date with (7) Avon Grove.
OJR finishes the season at .500 (9-9).

Spring-Ford 8, Perkiomen Valley 3 – The nine-time defending PAC champion Rams continued their mastery over the Vikings in the opening round of the District 1-3A playoffs.
Spring-Ford, which topped PV 10-3 in last Thursday’s PAC championship clash, posted a 3-0 season sweep over its rivals to advance to the second round of districts Thursday (7 pm) at Strath Haven against top-seeded Springfield (Delco).
Peyton Gensler keyed a balanced attack with three goals and two assists for the Rams, who set the tone with a 5-1 edge in the opening half.
The Vikings, who got two goals from Connor Roop, 12/15 faceoff efficiency from Matt Brock and five saves from sophomore goalie Jack Klosinski in place of the injured Rob Farrington, finish their season at 11-9.
