Spring-Ford, Perkiomen Valley nail down tourney titles

Spring-Ford 51, Penncrest 32 – Rachel Christman triggered a balanced effort with 11 points to lead the unbeaten (6-0) Rams to the championship over the hosts at the Penncrest Holiday Tournament Thursday.
Cassie Marte, Sarah Cooper and Abby Goodrich combined for 25 points for Spring-Ford, which set the tone with a 17-8 blitz in the opening period before extending the advantage to 27-15 at the half and 41-23 heading into the final frame.

Boyertown 46, Pope John Paul II 39 – Kylie Webb and Julia Smith combined for three triples in the fourth quarter to lift the Bears (2-5) to victory in the opening round of the Boyertown Holiday Tournament. Webb finished with 11 points and Victoria Boalton added 10 for Boyertown, offsetting Kayla Mesaros’ game-high 12 points for the Golden Panthers (4-3).

Owen J. Roberts 56, Marple Newtown 26 – The Wildcats advanced to the championship game of the Marple Newtown Tournament with the wire-to-wire victory, keyed by Olivia LeClaire’s 18 points, Kylie Cahill’s 10 and Hannah Clay’s 9.
OJR (5-2) will face Mount St. Joseph Academy for the tourney title Friday at 6 pm at Marple.
