Staunch defense helps Perkiomen Valley garner first state playoff bid; Spring-Ford ousted

(10) Perkiomen Valley 5, (6) Central Bucks West 1 - Remy Sell (6 caused turnovers 4 ground balls), Noah Shine, Matthew Quoos, Connor Donovan, Aiden Owens, Ryan Candelori, Zion Foster and goalie Rob Farrington (12 saves) triggered a staunch defensive effort – shutting out the Bucks over the final three quarters – as the Vikings secured the first state playoff berth in program history in the playback phase of the District 1-AAA tournament Tuesday.
Also for PV (15-6), which will face (8) Downingtown East for fifth place in the district Thursday, Brian Fehr cashed two goals, Richie Marshall added a goal and assist and Matt Brock dominated the faceoff circle with 7-for-10 proficiency.

(8) Downingtown East 10, (5) Spring-Ford 5 – The Rams fell behind 5-1 in the first half and were unable to make up the difference in their season-ending loss in the playback phase of the District 1-AAA playoffs.
Collin Pettine recorded a hat trick for the eight-time PAC champion Rams, who had eliminated Downingtown East last season 9-3 in district playbacks to earn a state playoff berth. Spring-Ford finishes its season at 16-6.
For the Cougars, who were 11-for-19 on faceoffs to earn their first PIAA berth since 2009, Jack Mulcahy led the way with five goals and one assist.
