Top-seeded Holden Smith of Owen J. Roberts captures PAC singles championship

FAIRVIEW VILLAGE  - Top-seeded Holden Smith of Owen J. Roberts completed his tour de force through the Pioneer Athletic Conference singles championship bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Phoenixville’s Mike Ellis in the championship match at Kinetix Sports Club Monday morning.
Smith, who reached the finals with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Norristown’s Franko Waweru, and Ellis, who topped Phantoms teammate Graham Light 6-4, 6-4 in the other morning semifinal,  advance to next week’s District 1 singles tournament Friday and Saturday at the Healthplex in Springfield as thePAC’s top two seeds.
Waweru garnered the No. 3 seed with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Light in the third-place match. Despite the loss, Light also qualifies for districts.
