Upper Merion tops PJP in PAC showdown; Owen J. Roberts blanks Pottsgrove

Upper Merion 3, Pope John Paul II 1 – The Golden Panthers came up short – 25-19, 8-25, 25-18, 25-12 – in the matchup of PAC girls volleyball powerhouses Wednesday.
Topping the stat sheet for PJP were Hannah Tulli (9 kills), Caitlin Gillinger (6 kills), Sarah Ward (6 kills), Mikaela Monroe (6 kills, 2 aces), Simone Sparano (23 digs, 3 aces), Maddie Lesinski (16 assists, 19 digs) and Chelsea Harvey (14 assists, 8 digs).
 
Owen J. Roberts 3, Pottsgrove 0 – The Wildcats ran the table 25-10, 25-10, 25-20 as Michelle Frank (7 kills, ace, dig), Catherine Cervi (3 kills, 3 blocks), Mikayla Johnson (6 kills, 3 aces), Gabi Tamburro (7 aces, 3 kills, block) and Jordyn Chambers (22 assists, ace) set the tone.
 
Boyertown 3, Daniel Boone 0 – Emma Ludwig (6 kills, 8 assists, 3 aces), Julia Smith (9 digs) and Taylor Jones (4 assists, 3 digs, 3 kills) led the way as the Bears (6-1) cruised in straight sets – 25-17, 25-12 and 25-16.
 
Phoenixville 3, Marple Newtown 0 – The Phantoms cruised 25-13, 25-14, 25-11 in the nonleague match behind Kayla Grammerstorf (5 aces, 5 kills, 3 digs), Keara Hennessey (14 aces, 17 assists, 4 kills), Romina Broglia (9 kills, 6 digs) and Hayden Perrone (9 digs).
