Perkiomen Valley college commits: Hamm, Holmes, Jackson, Jonassen, Pupillo, Schimpf, Sell, Shine

Perkiomen Valley 2018 graduates Taylor Hamm, Jahir Holmes, Alec Jackson, Megan Jonassen, Katie Pupillo, Brendan Schimpf, Remy Sell and Noah Shine recently announced their college destinations during recent college commitment events at the high school.

Taylor Hamm – Basketball – University of the Sciences

Taylor Hamm, seated between parents Brian and Linda Hamm, signs a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Division II University of the Sciences.

Position: Forward/Center

Anticipated Major: Occupational Therapy

Parents: Brian and Linda Hamm

Athletic Honors: Basketball: Two-year varsity captain. Two-time Mercury All-Area/All-Pioneer Athletic Conference First Team selection. 2016 PAC/District 1-4A Champions. Softball: Two-year varsity captain. Two-time PAC Champions, 2016 District 1-4A Champs, 2015 PIAA Runner-up. Field Hockey: Senior captain 2018. Two-time All-Area/All-PAC First Team selection.

Academic/Community Service: Distinguished Honors

Jahir Holmes – Football – Shippensburg

Jahir Holmes (second from left) signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Division II Shippensburg University during a recent event at the high school that was also attended by several members of the PV coaching staff.

Position: Defensive End/Center

Anticipated Major: Psychology

Athletic Honors: Maxwell Award recipient; Mercury All-Area/All-Pioneer Athletic Conference First Team Selection; Voted Perkiomen Valley’s Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Academic/Community Service: Honor Roll, Member of Minorities and Majorities.

Alec Jackson – Football – Juniata

Alec Jackson, seated between parents Steve Jackson and Terri Yocum, makes a verbal commitment  to continue his academic and football career at Juniata College.

Position: Linebacker

Anticipated Major: Business Management

Athletic Honors: 2017 Team Captain, Selected as the Week 1 Mercury/Pioneer Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Megan Jonassen – Basketball – Fordham

Megan Jonassen, seated between parents Jennifer and Eric Jonassen, signs a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Division I Fordham (NY) University.

Position: Forward

Athletic Honors: 2017-2018 Mercury All-Area Girls Player of the Year, Second Team All-State; Three-time All-Southeastern PA/All-Pioneer Athletic Conference/All-Area First Team selection. Two-Time Player of the Game selection (Philadelphia Tournament). 2016 PAC/District 1-4A Champions.

Katie Pupillo – Golf – Penn State (Altoona)

Brendan Schimpf – Football – Dickinson

Brendan Schimpf makes a verbal commitment to continue his academic and football career at Dickinson College during a recent event at the high school that was also attended by family members including parents Kevin and Stacey Schimpf, and PV head coach Rob Heist.

Position: Running back/Linebacker

Academic/Community Service: Distinguished Honor Roll, Named to the 2017 All-Academic Team.

Remy Sell – Lacrosse – Seton Hill

Remy Sell, seated between parents Richard and Stephanie Sell, signs a national letter of intent to continue his academic and lacrosse career at Seton Hill University.

Position: Long-Stick Midfielder, Defense.

Anticipated Major: Engineering

Athletic Honors: 2018 Pioneer Athletic Conference Defensive Lacrosse Player of the Year. Two-time All-PAC Boys Lacrosse selection.

Academic/Community Service: National Honor Society; Perkiomen Valley Youth Basketball camp counselor, Rotary Interact member.

Noah Shine – Football – McDaniel

Noah Shine (second from left), makes a verbal commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at McDaniel (MD) College during a recent event at the high school that was also attended by family members Elizabeth (mother), Todd (father) and Saige Shine (sister) and members of the PV football staff including head coach Rob Heist.

Position: Linebacker/Defensive End
